Rohit Sharma gets a massive reward from ICC after Champions Trophy final; Virat Kohli demoted

India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma has been rewarded for his heroics with the bat in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 against the New Zealand National Cricket Team.

The opening batter is back in the top three of the ICC rankings for the ODI batters.

Rohit Sharma led from the front in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 as they played a blistering innings to take his team home. The India skipper took his team off to a flying start with the bat in the chase of over 250 in the big game.

The opening batter moved from fifth to third after his Player of the Match performance in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Apart from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill retained his place at the top of the ICC ODI rankings. Fellow teammate Virat Kohli, who scored 218 runs in the ICC Champions 2025, also is inside the top five rankings for batters in the 50-over format.

Daryl Mitchell, Rachin Ravindra make gains in the ICC ODI rankings

From New Zealand, Daryl Mitchell made gains as well in the ICC ODI Rankings for batters. He moved on to step up to bag the sixth spot. While Rachin Ravindra, who hit a century in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, jumped 14 spots to 14th, and Glenn Phillips (up six rungs to 24th) also made substantial gains.

In terms of the ICC ODI rankings for bowlers, New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner made big gains. The left-arm spinner, who picked nine wickets during the Champions Trophy, jumped six spots to second on the list. He is behind Sri Lanka spinner Maheesh Theekshana in the rankings.

Michael Bracewell moved up 10 places to 18th. India leg-spinner Kuldeep Yadav bagged the No.3 spot in the ICC ODI rankings for bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja, who picked five places in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, also gained three places to move to 10th spot.

In terms of ICC ODI rankings for all-rounders, Azmatullah Omarzai retained his top spot. While New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner jumped one place to fourth overall and Bracewell gained seven spots to move to seventh.
