Starlink India:Starlink Satellite Internet India: Elon Musk’s company Starlink is going to start satellite internet service in India. The company has signed an agreement with Reliance Jio and Airtel. Now the government has placed an important condition before the company before the operation.

In the last 48 hours, the discussion of Elon Musk’s satellite internet has intensified in our country. Agreements have also started with the companies of the country before entering India. Meanwhile, the central government has laid down a strict condition before the foreign company can provide internet service. Yes, consider it as ‘Laxman Rekha’. According to the Times of India report, the Center has asked Starlink to set up a control center in India. The government has clearly said that whenever necessary to maintain law and order, services will have to be shut down or stopped for some time in disturbed and sensitive areas.

Top sources have told TOI that the company has been clearly told that security establishments will have to explicitly allow law enforcement agencies to intercept calls through official channels whenever they want. This step has been taken at a time when Starlink’s application for satellite communication license is in the final stage.

Starlink India:Why is the control center necessary?

Yes, you will have a question in your mind that why is it necessary to have a control center in India? Actually, if a law and order situation suddenly arises in any part of the country, then the communication services provided by the satellite may also need to be suspended and shut down with immediate effect.

A source told TOI, ‘Whenever there is any such need, we will have to contact their headquarters in the US to knock on their (Starlink’s) door.’ Meanwhile, there are provisions in the Telecom Act that allow the Central or State Government to take ‘temporary control’ over any telecom service or network from an authorized institution in the event of any such emergency, including disaster management, or in the interest of public safety. Apart from this, there are also provisions for shutting down the Internet.

On the issue of interception, sources have clearly said that this is nothing new. There are already such rules for Jio, Airtel, Voda Idea.

No direct calls either…

Apart from this, the satellite company has also been told not to transfer calls directly through the satellite network, instead send them back to their India Gateway and then use the channel taken by any traditional communication service, such as calls coming from a landline or existing mobile phone service.
