Users Get Relief After Major Global Outage Disrupts Homepage, App and Music Platform

New Delhi: YouTube services have been restored across India and several parts of the world after a widespread technical outage left millions of users unable to access videos for hours.

Over the past few hours, users reported that videos were not appearing on the homepage and across multiple platforms. The company officially confirmed that the issue with its recommendation system has now been resolved and all services — including YouTube.com, the YouTube app, YouTube MusicYouTube Kids, and YouTube TV — are back to normal.

“We’re grateful for your patience while we worked to fix this,” the company said in a statement.

Outage Began Late Tuesday Night

YouTube went completely down late Tuesday night, affecting users worldwide. Videos failed to load across the homepage, mobile app, and related services. The company shared updates on X, linking to a support page and stating, “If you’re having trouble accessing YouTube right now, you’re not alone. Our teams are working on it.”

Outage tracking website Downdetector reported receiving over 3 million problem reports from users globally. Complaints peaked around 6:30 AM IST before gradually declining as services began to stabilize.

During the most severe phase of the outage, users visiting the website were shown a message asking them to return later.

Official Confirmation and Fix

YouTube acknowledged the disruption, stating, “We know some of you are having trouble accessing YouTube. Our team is working on a fix, and we’ll update you as soon as we have more information.”

Later, the company confirmed that the homepage had been restored and that a complete fix had been implemented across platforms.

Owned by Google, YouTube is the world’s largest video-sharing platform, boasting over 2.5 billion monthly active users globally. The swift restoration of services brought relief to creators and viewers alike after hours of disruption.
