“Now Justice Will Be Served”, 200 Terrorists Arrive in Mecca as God’s Messiah, 1 Lakh Muslims Kneel

When the attackers captured Mecca, Islam’s holiest site, the world was left in shock. On November 20, 1979, it was the first day of the Islamic year 1400. On that day, hundreds of armed men launched an assault on Mecca, taking millions of people hostage. The siege lasted for 14 days. Following this, the military carried out an operation against the attackers.

The Mahdi Has Arrived
On November 20, 1979, at around 5:15 AM, the holy city of Mecca was still in the midst of prayers when armed men began to appear in the compound. Then, one man approached a microphone and began giving instructions. This man was Juhayman al-Otaibi, a young Saudi preacher of Bedouin origin who led an ultra-radical Sunni Muslim Salafi group.

Al-Otaibi pointed at a person and declared, “The Mahdi has arrived.” He said that now, in this world full of oppression, justice would prevail. The attackers began chanting “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great). In fact, Al-Otaibi believed that the people of Saudi Arabia had strayed from Islam’s true path and were following the directions of Western nations. He saw widespread corruption everywhere.

One Lakh People Held Hostage
The unarmed Saudi police officers were killed in the attack. At the time of the siege, nearly one lakh (100,000) people were present in the Al-Haram Mosque, who were taken hostage. As news of the incident spread worldwide, people were left astounded. At the time, Crown Prince Fahd bin Abdulaziz was in Tunisia with his staff, while Prince Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, head of the Saudi National Guards, was in Morocco.

The Attack Was Planned in Advance
The attackers continuously fired into the air during the siege to create fear. They stopped Saudi nationals from leaving the mosque and began freeing people from other countries. It was later revealed that the attackers had smuggled weapons inside the mosque several days earlier, hidden inside coffins. Pakistan and France sent their commando teams to Saudi Arabia to assist.

Some of the attackers had even hidden underground in the mosque and had captured half of the premises. In this military operation, hundreds of attackers were killed, and many innocent lives were lost. Al-Khatani, who had declared himself the Mahdi, was also killed in the operation. After 14 days, on December 4, Juhayman al-Otaibi and several other attackers surrendered. Later, on January 9, 1980, al-Otaibi and 63 others were publicly executed.Israeli Delegation To Meet Hamas Leaders In Qatar Over Hostage Release Negotiations
