US Envoy Gives Positive Update on India-US Critical Minerals Deal
India and the US nearing finalization of agreement to secure rare minerals supply chain for advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies.
New Delhi: India and the United States are reportedly very close to sealing a crucial agreement on critical minerals. Sergio Gaur, the US envoy to India, announced on Friday that the negotiations are in their final stages and a major announcement could be made in the coming months. The deal aims to strengthen the supply chain for rare minerals essential for advanced manufacturing, energy systems, and emerging technologies.
Expressing optimism, Gaur said, “I am pleased to share that we are very close to finalizing the Critical Minerals agreement. This will help secure supply chains for advanced manufacturing, energy systems, and emerging technologies. We expect a significant announcement in the next few months.”
Progress in India-US Partnership
Gaur highlighted that the two governments are demonstrating strong political will to advance the partnership. “We are seeing progress where previously there were hurdles. Several significant achievements have emerged that enhance the strength and momentum of the US-India partnership,” he noted.
He emphasized that India-US relations have the potential to reach historic heights. Referring to recent agreements and developments, he pointed out three major areas of progress:

Interim Trade Agreement
Speaking about the ongoing interim trade arrangement, Gaur said the size of the economies, talent, and entrepreneurial energy in both countries reflects enormous potential for collaboration. He noted that what was required was momentum and political will to convert opportunities into tangible results.
It is notable that India and the US reached an interim agreement on February 7, marking a significant step toward long-term strategic and economic collaboration.
This critical minerals deal is expected to secure supply chains essential for technology and manufacturing while further cementing India-US relations in trade, technology, and strategic coordination.
