Violence in Manipur: Seven Districts See Two-Day Extension of Internet Service Ban
Violence in Manipur: In accordance with an order issued on Saturday, the Manipur government prolonged the two-day ban on mobile internet services in seven districts.
In response to the growing violence, the administration halted services for two days on November 16 in order to stop anti-social groups from disseminating content that could cause issues with law and order. Since then, there have been multiple extensions.
“The state government after reviewing the prevailing law and order situation has decided to continue suspension of mobile internet services in Imphal West, Imphal East, Kakching, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur and Kangpokpi for another two days in public interests,” the order issued by the home department said.

Following the recovery of the bodies of three women and three children, violence erupted in the state, prompting the suspension of internet services on November 16.The government of Manipur overturned the restriction on internet services on November 19 in light of the difficulties that the general public, medical facilities, educational institutions, and other agencies confront.

Meanwhile, the Centre will deploy an additional 10,000 soldiers to Manipur, which has been affected by ethnic violence, raising the total number of central force companies in the state to 288, announced the state’s Chief Security Adviser in a press briefing today.
Manipur Security Adviser Kuldiep Singh informed reporters in Imphal, that with the deployment of 90 additional companies, or roughly 10,800 central force personnel, the total number of companies stationed in Manipur has now reached 288.
