Annabel Sutherland Becomes First Woman to Score Centuries in Three Consecutive Test Innings

Perth: Annabel Sutherland of Australia women’s national cricket team created history by becoming the first woman cricketer to score centuries in three consecutive Test innings. She achieved the milestone with a brilliant 129-run knock on Day 2 of the one-off Test against the India women’s national cricket team at the WACA Ground in Perth.
Playing her seventh Test match, Sutherland scored her fourth Test century, hitting 17 boundaries in an innings that came off 171 balls. Her performance helped Australia build a strong lead in the match.
This was Sutherland’s third consecutive century in Test cricket and her fourth century in the last five Tests.
The 24-year-old all-rounder came in to bat at number five and built a 128-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Ellyse Perry, who scored 76 runs. She then added 54 runs for the fifth wicket with Beth Mooney.
During the match, Perry also achieved a major milestone. She became the highest run-scorer for Australia in women’s Test cricket, crossing 1006 runs and surpassing the previous record held by Karen Rolton, who had 1002 runs.
Sutherland has already scored 715 runs in her Test career, making her the eighth-highest run-scorer for Australia in women’s Test cricket. She has an impressive batting average of 89 and has crossed the 50-run mark four times in Tests, converting each of those innings into centuries. Her highest Test score is 210, which she made against the South Africa women’s national cricket team at the same venue in 2024.
Earlier in the match, India was asked to bat first and was bowled out for 198 runs. Sutherland played a key role with the ball as well, taking four wickets, while debutant Lucy Hamilton picked up three wickets. Darcie Brown also claimed wickets, and Ashleigh Gardner dismissed Richa Ghosh.
The match is a pink-ball day-night Test, and it also marks the final international appearance of Australian captain Alyssa Healy, bringing an end to her 16-year international career.
