Champions Trophy Final: If Rain Plays Spoiler, Who Takes The Title?

Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, have successfully secured a spot in the final of ICC Champions Trophy 2025, marking their third consecutive appearance in the title match.

As excitement builds for the grand finale on March 9 in Dubai, fans are also wondering – what if rain plays spoilsport?

ICC rules for a rain-affected Champions Trophy Final

According to ICC regulations, if rain disrupts the Champions Trophy 2025 final, efforts will be made to complete the match with a reduced number of overs. However, a minimum of 20 overs per side must be played for the match to yield a result.

If the weather does not allow play on March 9, a reserve day has been scheduled for Monday (March 10). This ensures the final can be completed even if it cannot be played on the original date.

What if Champions Trophy 2025 Final ends in a Tie?

If the Champions Trophy 2025 final is tied (ends in a draw / scores levelled), the winner will be decided via a Super Over. In case the Super Over also ends in a tie, another Super Over will be played until a clear winner emerges. Notably, the previous rule of determining the winner based on the number of boundaries hit has been removed.

What if rain washes out both days?

In the rare scenario where the match cannot be completed on both Sunday (March 9) and Monday (March 10) due to persistent rain, the Champions Trophy title will be shared between both finalist teams.

While the weather forecast indicates a low chance of rain in Dubai, cricket fans will be hoping for clear skies so that the final can be played without interruptions.
