In Kuwait, PM Modi Meets Duo Who Translated, Published Arabic Version Of Ramayana, Mahabharata | Watch

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday met Abdullah Al Baroun and Abdul Lateef Al Nesef, the individuals responsible for the Arabic translations of India’s two iconic epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.The meeting highlighted the significance of these translations, which bridge cultural and linguistic gaps between India and the Arab world.

Abdul Lateef Al Nesef, the publisher of the books, expressed his happiness and honour, sharing with the news agency ANI, “I am very happy, it is an honour for me. Mr. Modi is very happy with this. These books are very important.” Al Nesef also revealed that the Prime Minister had signed both books, further focusing on their importance in promoting cultural exchange.

Abdul Lateef Al Nesef shared that Prime Minister Modi inquired about the time it took to translate the epics, to which he responded that it took two years and eight months. He described the Ramayana as a romantic tale, while the Mahabharata, in his view, transcends generations of kings.

Prime Minister Modi praised Abdullah and Abdul’s efforts, highlighting that such initiatives are crucial for fostering deeper connections between India and the Arab world. He also highlighted their work in his Mann Ki Baat radio address, underscoring the role of cultural diplomacy in strengthening international ties.
