Memorial for BJP Workers Killed in Political Violence Unveiled During Suvendu Adhikari’s Oath Ceremony, PM Modi Meets Families

Kolkata: BJP leaders and party workers paid tribute at a memorial dedicated to party workers who lost their lives in political violence in West Bengal. BJP leaders said the party would never forget the sacrifices made by its workers.

Saturday, May 9, 2026, became a historic day in West Bengal politics as the Bharatiya Janata Party formed its first-ever government in the state.

Following the BJP’s victory, BJP Legislature Party leader Suvendu Adhikari took oath as the Chief Minister of West Bengal. The grand oath-taking ceremony was held at Kolkata’s historic Brigade Parade Ground in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several senior BJP leaders.

PM Modi Meets Families of Deceased BJP Workers

After the oath-taking ceremony concluded, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the family members of BJP workers who were killed during incidents of political violence in West Bengal.

The families of late Debashish Mondal, Soumitra Ghoshal, and Anand Paul were among those who met the Prime Minister. PM Modi interacted with the family members and offered his condolences.

Memorial Built at Brigade Parade Ground

On this occasion, a memorial was set up at Brigade Parade Ground in memory of BJP workers who lost their lives in political violence. Leaders and party workers attending the event paid floral tributes at the memorial site.

According to BJP leaders, the party remains committed to honoring the sacrifices of its workers and supporters.

A large number of BJP supporters gathered at the oath-taking ceremony, creating an atmosphere of celebration and excitement throughout the event.
