Weather Havoc in Bihar: 9 Dead as Storms and Heavy Rain Wreak Widespread Destruction

Sudden Change in Weather Throws Normal Life Out of Gear

Patna: A sudden spell of severe weather has caused widespread destruction across Bihar. Strong winds and heavy rain have badly affected normal life in several districts of the state. So far, reports confirm the deaths of nine people, while incidents of uprooted trees, disrupted power supply, and blocked roads have been reported from multiple areas.

Patna Faces the Worst Impact

The situation remained most critical in the state capital Patna, where powerful winds uprooted more than 200 trees, causing them to collapse onto roads and public areas. Several major roads remained blocked for hours, bringing traffic movement to a complete standstill.

Massive Damage Across the City

The storm in Patna was so intense that vehicles got trapped under fallen trees in several areas, while electric poles were also damaged. Long traffic jams were reported across the city, leaving commuters stranded and causing major inconvenience.

Local administration and municipal corporation teams worked throughout the night to remove fallen trees and clear roads.

9 Deaths Reported Across Bihar

According to information received from different districts, at least nine people lost their lives in rain and storm-related incidents. In some cases, deaths occurred after trees collapsed, while in others, houses and walls caved in due to strong winds and heavy rainfall.

The administration has initiated the process of providing compensation to the families of the deceased, while relief operations continue at a rapid pace.

Weather Alert Issued in 20 Districts

The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for strong winds and rainfall in 20 districts of Bihar for today as well. Residents have been advised not to step outside unnecessarily.

People have especially been warned to stay away from open fields, trees, and electric poles, as weather conditions may worsen further in the coming hours.

Power and Communication Systems Affected

The storm and rain have also disrupted electricity supply, transportation, and communication systems in many parts of the state. Several areas are facing prolonged power outages, adding to public hardship.

The situation remains even more challenging in rural regions, where damaged roads and disrupted connectivity are creating hurdles for relief and rescue operations.

Rescue Operations Underway

The state government and district administrations have intensified relief and rescue efforts. Teams from the NDRF and SDRF have also been deployed in the affected regions.

Officials stated that the immediate priorities include restoring electricity, clearing roads, and shifting affected residents to safer locations.

Administration Urges People to Stay Alert

Authorities have appealed to people to strictly follow weather department advisories and remain in safe places. Citizens have also been asked to contact emergency helplines immediately in case of any emergency.

For now, Bihar continues to battle the devastating impact of the sudden weather change, and the next few hours are being considered extremely crucial for the state.
