After Missing Out on Madhubala’s Role, Kriti Sanon Reveals Which Legendary Actress’ Biopic She Wants to Do

New Delhi: At 35, Kriti Sanon has never shied away from taking challenging roles in her relatively short but impressive career. From playing a surrogate mother in Mimi to portraying a robot in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, the actress has consistently experimented with diverse characters.
Now, Kriti is gearing up for her upcoming film Cocktail 2, where she will be seen alongside Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna.
However, amid all the excitement around her next release, Kriti Sanon has expressed her desire to portray one of Bollywood’s most iconic actresses in a biopic.
Kriti Sanon Wants to Play Rekha on Screen
In an interview with GQ India, Kriti Sanon was asked if there was any actress whose biopic she would love to be a part of. Responding instantly, the actress said:
“Rekha… she is the most fascinating personality. I know I don’t look anything like her, but I absolutely adore her. Her guts, her heart, and her aura — everything about her is amazing. She is soft-hearted, intelligent, and lives life on her own terms.”
Kriti’s admiration for veteran actress Rekha has now sparked excitement among fans, with many already imagining her in such a powerful role.
Earlier Wanted to Play Madhubala
Before this, Kriti had expressed her wish in several interviews to portray legendary actress Madhubala on screen. There were even reports suggesting that the makers were considering her for the role.
However, things reportedly did not work out, and actress Sara Arjun was eventually cast to play Madhubala in the film.
Kriti Opens Up About Losing Roles to Star Kids
Apart from discussing biopics, Kriti Sanon also reflected on the difficult phase of her career when several promising opportunities slipped away from her hands.
She revealed:
“There were many roles I came very close to getting, but later they went to star kids, and those things were beyond my control. When you don’t come from a film background, you have to deal with many sudden changes. It’s all part of your growth.”
Her candid remarks once again highlighted the struggles faced by outsiders in the film industry.
Kriti’s Bold Role in ‘Cocktail 2’
Kriti Sanon will soon be seen in director Homi Adajania’s Cocktail 2, starring alongside Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles.
The film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 19, and reports suggest Kriti will be seen in a bold and glamorous avatar in the movie.
