Pakistan make 7 changes for West Indies Tests after 2-0 loss vs South Africa
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against West Indies on Saturday, January 11. The squad features seven changes from their last Test series against South Africa which Pakistan lost by 0-2. Opening batter Imam-ul-Haq has marked his return to the team after last featuring on the tour to Australia.
Mohammad Huraira has been also brought back as the duo will fill in for injured Saim Ayub and the out-of-form Abdullah Shafique. In the spin department, off-spinner Sajid Khan and mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed have been recalled to form a three-pronged spin attack with left-arm spinner Noman Ali.
The pace quartet of Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Abbas, Mir Hamza, and Naseem Shah has been rested to manage their workload. The selectors have also retained Khurram Shahzad and recalled Mohammad Ali. Uncapped batter Kashif Ali has earned his maiden call-up to the national side.
Shaheen Afridi continues to be missing
Wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah, who split his right-hand webbing during the Cape Town Test, has been replaced by former Pakistan U19 captain Rohail Nazir.
While several players marked their return to the team, fast bowler Shaheen Afridi continued to be missing from the Test team after being rested midway through the series against England. The two-match Test series will begin from January 17 with both matches set to be played in Multan.
