“Punjab Wants Change”: Amit Shah Targets AAP, Accuses Government of Pushing State into Corruption, Drugs and Crime

Ahead of BJP’s ‘Badlav Rally’ in Moga, the Union Home Minister slams the Bhagwant Mann-led government and claims law and order has collapsed in Punjab.

New Delhi: Ahead of a major political rally in Moga, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab, accusing it of pushing the state into corruption, drug abuse and rising crime. He said the people of Punjab now want “change.”

In a post on X, Shah wrote that every citizen of Punjab is seeking transformation.

He stated that the sacred land of Punjab, known for its soldiers, farmers and hardworking people, has been pushed into crisis by what he described as the “AAP-da government.”

Targeting the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Shah also questioned the law-and-order situation in the state. He alleged that under this “remote-controlled” AAP government, both law and order and development have disappeared from Punjab.

Shah further said he was looking forward to interacting with the people of Punjab at the BJP’s ‘Badlav Rally’ scheduled to be held in Moga later on Saturday.

The rally is being viewed as the formal launch of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s election campaign in Punjab, where Assembly elections are expected in early 2027.

Extensive arrangements have been made for the rally at Killi Chahalan village in Moga district. The district falls in the politically significant Malwa region, which accounts for 69 out of Punjab’s 117 Assembly seats, making it a crucial battleground in the upcoming elections.

Interestingly, in February this year, the same location hosted a rally led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal.

Earlier, Punjab BJP’s working president Ashwani Sharma had also claimed that people across the state now view the BJP as a reliable alternative capable of bringing change. He asserted that the public has already decided to vote the AAP government out of power in the 2027 elections.
