The Congress on January 8 announced it will provide free health insurance up to Rs 25 lakh under ‘Jeevan Raksha Yojana’ if voted to power in Delhi, which goes to polls on February 5.Former Rajasthan Chief Minister and senior party leader Ashok Gehlot, who believes there are high chances of Congress forming government in the capital, said the proposed scheme would be a ‘game-changer’.
“The situation in Delhi has changed now. Congress is doing a better campaign and this time, the results will be different. The chances of the Congress forming the government in Delhi are increasing,” he said.Gehlot said the proposed scheme aims to provide comprehensive health coverage to families, covering medical expenses for critical illnesses, hospitalisations and treatments.
2025 Delhi election: “The health insurance scheme of Rajasthan has been very successful and in Delhi we will do the same. It provides benefit to all whereas Ayushman Bharat has its limitations,” he said.
The Congress leader also highlighted that the Jeevan Raksha Yojana reflects the party’s commitment to addressing Delhi residents’ healthcare needs. The party’s campaign slogan “Hogi Har Zarurat Puri, Congress Hai Zaroori” was prominently displayed during the announcement, highlighting the Congress’ promise of ensuring essential services for all.

The results of the single-phased polls will be declared on February 8.As part of its pre-poll promises, the grand old party also announced that if it returns to power in Delhi it will implement the ‘Pyari Didi Yojana’, under which all women voters will get a monthly dole of Rs 2,500. The scheme was announced earlier this week by Karnataka deputy CM DK Shivakumar.
“After the successful launch of the guarantee programme in Karnataka, we are launching the ‘Pyari Didi’ scheme in Delhi. I am confident that the Congress government will be elected in Delhi, and we will implement the scheme of Rs 2,500 to every woman on the first day. As per the Karnataka model, the guarantee will also be implemented in Delhi,” the Congress leader said after announcing the Yojana.Kumbh Mela 2025: Meet Anaaj Wale Baba – The Yogi Growing Crops On His Head
