The results of the elections held in five states—West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry—will be announced tomorrow, May 4. Voting in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry took place on April 9. Meanwhile, all seats in Tamil Nadu went to polls on April 23. In West Bengal, voting was conducted in phases—152 seats were polled on April 23, followed by voting on 142 seats on April 29. Now, the results for all these elections will be declared on May 4.
The Election Commission had declared the polling in West Bengal’s Falta constituency invalid due to large-scale irregularities, videos of which had also surfaced. Re-polling for all booths in this constituency will take place on May 21, and its result will be declared on May 24. The results for the remaining 293 seats in West Bengal will be announced on May 4.
What Exit Polls Say
Kerala: According to exit polls, in the 140-member Assembly, the LDF is expected to win 60–65 seats, while the UDF may secure 70–75 seats. The BJP alliance is likely to get 3–5 seats, and others may win 2–4 seats.
Tamil Nadu: Exit polls suggest that in the 234-member Assembly, the DMK+ alliance may receive around 40.3% of the vote share. The NDA is expected to get 37.1%, TVK around 17.5%, and other parties approximately 5.1%.
Assam: As per exit polls, the BJP may win 85–95 seats out of 126, while Congress could secure 25–32 seats. Other parties are expected to win 6–12 seats.
West Bengal: Exit polls indicate that out of 294 seats, the BJP may win 146–161 seats, while the TMC+ alliance could secure 125–140 seats. Other parties are estimated to win 6–10 seats.
