Ethan Bosch Ruled Out of NZ T20I Series, Wiaan Mulder Named Replacement

Cape Town: Ethan Bosch, the South African all-rounder, has been ruled out of the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand national cricket team due to a hamstring injury. Wiaan Mulder has been named as his replacement in the 15-member squad for the series, which begins on March 15 in New Zealand.

Bosch has played only one international match for South Africa national cricket team—an ODI a year ago—and was set to make his T20I debut in the upcoming series. Mulder, on the other hand, has already featured in 11 T20Is, with his last appearance coming in September 2024 against Ireland national cricket team.

In a statement posted on X, the Proteas men’s team said:
“Hollywoodbets Dolphins all-rounder Ethan Bosch has been ruled out of the five-match T20 International series against New Zealand due to a hamstring injury. Proteas all-rounder Wiaan Mulder has been named as his replacement.”

The team also confirmed travel arrangements ahead of the tour. Players currently in South Africa will depart for New Zealand from O. R. Tambo International Airport on March 8. Meanwhile, squad members and management who are currently in Kolkata will travel directly to New Zealand the same day.

Several South African players had remained in Kolkata following their elimination from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where they were defeated by New Zealand in the semifinal on March 4. Travel arrangements for players returning from the tournament are still being finalized in consultation with the International Cricket Council (ICC).
