FIR against AAP MLA after his ‘interruption’ in police probe lets criminal escape

A case has been filed against AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan for allegedly obstructing a police operation in Jamia, leading to the escape of a wanted criminal.

According to sources, the Delhi Police Crime Branch had launched an operation in Jamia to detain Shahbaz Khan, who was facing an attempt-to-murder charge. Just as officers successfully took him into custody, Amanatullah Khan intervened, questioning the legitimacy of the arrest and insisting that the individual was not a criminal.

The confrontation quickly escalated into a heated exchange between the AAP legislator and the Crime Branch team. Amid the chaos, Shahbaz Khan managed to flee, thwarting the police’s efforts to complete the arrest.

Police sources stated that Khan and his supporters actively obstructed law enforcement, delaying the operation and ultimately allowing the suspect to escape. Following the incident, the Crime Branch has filed a complaint, and legal action against the MLA is now underway.

Notably, Amanatullah Khan won the Okhla Assembly seat for the third consecutive time after defeating BJP candidate Manish Chaudhary.
