Google has recently launched a new set of AI-powered features for Android devices, running on Android 15. According to the Google release, these features will help users express themselves authentically and connect their digital lives with real-world experiences.

These new features include audio captions, image descriptions, a new sticker combo and more. As we get to the details of every new feature, it is interesting that Google has released an extra set of features exclusively for Pixel smartphones.

New AI features for all Android devices

Expressive Captions: This feature captures the intensity and emotion of how the sender is speaking. This feature focuses on the volume, tone and even sounds that are more than mere words. For instance, the captions will include words like whispering, cheers and applause, groaning and more. Expressive Captions are part of Live Caption, so they’re built into the operating system and available across apps on your phone.Google

This means you can use Expressive Captions with most things you watch, like livestreams on social platforms, memories in your Google Photos reel and video messages from friends and family. When enabled, captions will occur in real-time and on the device, so you can use them even while you’re in aeroplane mode.

Image Q&A in Lookout: Designed with people in blind and low-vision communities, Image Q&A in Lookout now uses Gemini 1.5 Pro to provide even richer, more helpful image descriptions compared to previous versions. Simply take, upload or open a photo in the app to hear the caption read aloud in a natural-sounding voice. You can then gain a deeper understanding of the image by asking follow-up questions, now available globally.

Emoji Kitchen: This feature helps you create a new emoticon with the help of existing ones. For example, if you add the pizza emoji with a heart on the keyboard, it will automatically create a new sticker that combines both of the commands. Yes, it is similar to Apple’s Genmoji. The only difference is, that Emoji Kitchen has already rolled out, but Genmoji is yet to arrive.

QR codes in Quick Share: This newly added feature makes it even easier to share data like pictures, videos and documents. How to do it? Select a media file to share, tap the QR code, and have others scan it for a secure transfer. It minimises the tasks of adding others as contacts, verifying devices, or changing your sharing settings.

Auto enhancement in Google Drive: Google Drive now offers enhanced scans that are sharper and clearer with automatic improvements. Whether it’s receipts, documents, or ID cards, your scans are optimised for better contrast, white balance, and reduced shadows and blurring – all without the need for manual editing. Just capture an image of physical documents or receipts, and the app will save a crisp, clear digital version in your preferred format.

Gemini extensions: Gemini on Android is enhancing its capabilities with new Extensions that integrate with your favourite apps and services. The new Spotify extension allows you to play music, explore playlists for any mood, and more. You can also make calls, send messages via your default phone and messaging apps, set alarms, and manage device settings and your camera. Soon, Gemini will let you control smart home devices linked to your Google Account and provide additional information about locations on Google Maps.

New AI features exclusive to Pixel phones

Pixel phone users are getting access to exclusive new features. The Screenshots app now automatically organises saved images and works with Circle to Search, letting users save search results and get relevant suggestions. The update also brings Emoji Kitchen to Gboard, allowing users to create custom emoji combinations, and enhances the call screening feature with AI-powered contextual response suggestions.

Google started rolling out these features today for Pixel phones and a few select Android 15 devices, with a wider rollout expected over the next few weeks.RBI keeps key lending rate unchanged at 6.5%, focus remains on tackling inflation
