IND vs AUS: Katich expects series to get more heated after Siraj-Head bust up
Former Australia cricketer Simon Katic expects the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to get more heated. Speaking after the Adelaide Test match, Katic said that with the series on the line, nails will come out as it was seen during the Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head bust-up.
Siraj and Head were engaged in heated argument during the pink ball Test match, after the pacer had bowled out Head on Day 2 of the game. Both players engaged in a war of words, taking digs at each other during the game, on and off the field.IND vs AUS
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced sanctions for Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head for their on-field spat in the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Adelaide. Siraj was fined 20 per cent of his match fee. While Head escaped a fine, he was also sanctioned for his verbal exchange with the Indian fast bowler.
Both Mohammed Siraj and Travis Head were handed one demerit point for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct. The face-off between the pacer and the batter added spice to the 2nd Test, which Australia won by 10 wickets on Sunday.IND vs AUS
Siraj had alleged that Travis Head hurled abuses at him. Katic argued that one should not blame Head for that because Siraj was the one who instigated the fight.
“His innings didn’t deserve to finish that way. I think Travis Head reacted to the gesture and you can’t blame him for that, he was pretty upset with what was being directed his way,” Katich commented.
“As soon as Travis Head got out, he basically played a match-winning knock, it should’ve been the opposite. He should’ve gone over to him and pat him on the back and said ‘well played’.IND vs AUS
“Hopefully it doesn’t ignite the series but I dare say given the history of India v Australia in recent times⦠it’s going to get heated in the next few Tests because the series is on the line,” concluded Katic.
Head and Siraj made up on the final day of the Test match. The players spoke to each other during India’s final innings.Speaking to ABC Sport, Head said that the pair sorted things out when the pacer came out to bat.
“Sweet with it. He came out and just said [it was] a little bit of a misunderstanding … I think we will move on. We’ve had a great week, so let’s not let it ruin it,” Head said after being named player of the match in the 10-wicket win on his home ground.
“It was fine. He said, ‘Why’d you swear?’ I sort of said, ‘Look, I didn’t at first … [but] I definitely swore at you the second time round,'” said Head.IND vs AUSiOS 18.2 with new Apple Intelligence features expected to arrive this week: All details
