Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Approves ₹25,678 Crore Schemes for Farmers

Major Decisions Taken in First Agriculture Cabinet Meeting Held in Barwani

Bhopal: The first Agriculture Cabinet meeting of the Mohan Yadav government was held on Monday at the Bhilat Baba Temple in Nagalwadi, Barwani district of Madhya Pradesh. During the meeting, welfare schemes worth ₹25,678 crore were approved for the benefit of farmers.

According to a state government spokesperson, the Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav cleared various schemes related to agriculture, irrigation, animal husbandry, fisheries, horticulture, and cooperation, amounting to approximately ₹27,500 crore.

The Cabinet also approved the Madhya Pradesh Integrated Fisheries Policy–2026, aimed at promoting modern cage culture. Under this policy, nearly 100,000 fish cages are planned to be installed across the state. The initiative seeks to integrate fisheries with eco-tourism and green energy, creating a multi-dimensional livelihood model. The policy is expected to attract investments worth ₹3,000 crore over the next three years and generate around 20,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.

In another significant decision, the Cabinet approved a proposal to modernize animal hospitals and related infrastructure at a cost of ₹610.51 crore over three years, strengthening the state’s animal healthcare system.

Additionally, a nursery development plan with an estimated expenditure of ₹1,739 crore over the next five years has been approved. The state government has also decided to continue 20 existing farmer welfare and agricultural development projects with a total outlay of ₹3,502 crore over the next five years.

The Cabinet further sanctioned ₹3,909 crore to continue the interest subsidy scheme on short-term crop loans until March 31, 2031.

It was also decided during the meeting that similar Agriculture Cabinet meetings will be organized at every district headquarters across the state in the coming days.
