PM Modi Declares “I’m a Worker, Nitin Naveen is My Boss” as BJP Welcomes New National President
In a historic ceremony at BJP headquarters, the Prime Minister hails generational change and organizational discipline, congratulating 45-year-old Nitin Naveen.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday congratulated Nitin Naveen on his election as the BJP’s National President, stating that Naveen would now act as his “boss,” while he remains a devoted “worker” of the party.
Naveen was elected as BJP’s National President during an organizational event at the party headquarters in New Delhi, becoming the youngest leader to assume the post. Outgoing BJP President J.P. Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari were present to congratulate the newly elected leader.
Addressing the gathering, PM Modi said, “Over the past several months, keeping in mind the spirit of the BJP Constitution and every rule, a democratic organizational election process has been conducted to select leaders from the smallest party unit to the National President.”
He added, “Today, the process has formally concluded. This large organizational election symbolizes BJP’s democratic faith, organizational discipline, and worker-centric approach. I heartily congratulate all party workers across the country for making this process successful.”
The Prime Minister emphasized that leadership is “guided by tradition, enriched by experience, and advances the organization with a sense of public and national service.” He also said that his years of political experience, including serving as the head of the government, do not compare to his role as a party worker. “First and foremost, I am a BJP worker, and I take immense pride in it,” he stated.
Amid loud applause at BJP headquarters, he declared, “When it comes to party matters, I am a worker, and Nitin Naveen is my boss.” Calling Naveen a “millennial,” PM Modi observed, “This is the 21st century, the first 25 years of which have passed. The next 25 years are crucial, a time when ‘Developed India’ will emerge. In this crucial period, Nitin Naveen will carry forward BJP’s legacy. To put it in today’s terms, he is a millennial who has witnessed major economic, social, and technological changes—from radio to AI.”
The Prime Minister praised Naveen for combining “youthful energy” with “long-standing organizational experience,” saying these qualities will be highly beneficial for the party.
Reflecting on past leaders, PM Modi said, “Under the leadership of Atal Ji, Advani Ji, and Murli Manohar Joshi Ji, BJP rose from zero to the pinnacle. In this century, leaders like M. Venkaiah Naidu and Nitin Gadkari, along with our senior colleagues, strengthened the organization. Under Rajnath Ji’s leadership, BJP achieved full majority on its own for the first time.”
He added, “Under Amit Shah’s leadership, BJP formed governments in multiple states and returned to power at the Centre. Under J.P. Nadda, BJP strengthened from Panchayat to Parliament.” During the program, he also paid tribute to the founding members of the Jan Sangh.
PM Modi highlighted that BJP is more than a party—it is a culture and a family, “where relationships go far beyond mere membership.” He said, “BJP runs on tradition and process, not positions. Presidents may change, but our ideals do not. Leadership changes, but direction remains the same. BJP’s spirit is national, because our connection is local. Our roots run deep, which is why BJP provides a platform for regional aspirations.”
He noted that this approach attracts people from across India, providing newcomers the safest and most effective entry point into political life. PM Modi stressed that BJP prioritizes “service over comfort.”
Outgoing BJP President J.P. Nadda congratulated Nitin Naveen, calling the moment historic: “Today, our young, energetic, and talented Nitin Naveen takes charge of the world’s largest political party, BJP, as National President. On behalf of myself and millions of workers, I extend heartfelt congratulations. Nitin Ji, a grassroots worker, wise in thought, five-time MLA at a young age, and still serving, is now leading as National President. My best wishes to him.”
Nadda also thanked the Prime Minister for “providing the party with vision and the opportunity to work, empowering us to achieve this milestone.”
