PM Modi in Karnataka: Warm Welcome by Siddaramaiah, Inaugurates Guru Bhairavayya Temple, Urges People to Take 9 Pledges

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Karnataka on Wednesday to attend the inauguration of the Guru Bhairavayya Temple at the Adichunchanagiri Mutt in Mandya. He was received at Bengaluru airport with a warm welcome by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
During their meeting, the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister were seen in conversation, with visuals of the interaction going viral on social media. According to reports, Siddaramaiah also handed over a letter highlighting at least 18 long-pending projects in the state, including railway works, Jal Jeevan Mission implementation, grants for ग्राम पंचायतs, and national highway improvements, seeking immediate support from the Centre.
Temple Inauguration and Public Address
PM Modi later reached Mandya and inaugurated the Guru Bhairavayya Temple at the Adichunchanagiri Mahasamsthana Mutt. Addressing a public gathering, he urged people to adopt nine collective pledges to accelerate the journey toward a developed Karnataka and a developed India.
He emphasized priorities such as water conservation and efficient water management, plantation drives under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, maintaining cleanliness at public and religious places, promoting local products through “Vocal for Local,” boosting domestic tourism, adopting chemical-free natural farming, encouraging millet-based healthy diets, and focusing on yoga and fitness.
Visit to Jyoti Peeth and Cultural Significance
Before the inauguration, the Prime Minister also offered prayers at the Jyoti Peeth, a site believed in mythology to be associated with Lord Shiva’s penance.
The Guru Bhairavayya Temple has been built in the Dravidian architectural style and is considered a tribute to a revered seer of the Vokkaliga community. On this occasion, PM Modi and former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda jointly released a book titled Saundarya Lahari and Shiva Mahimna Stotram.
Call for Collective Action
Reiterating his appeal, PM Modi called upon citizens to sincerely follow the nine pledges, including reducing oil consumption, maintaining cleanliness, supporting local industries, and adopting sustainable lifestyle practices. He said that collective commitment to these goals would significantly contribute to faster development and national progress.
