Serious Allegations at TCS Nashik: Sexual Harassment, Coercion Claims Trigger Probe; Multiple Arrests Made

A major controversy has emerged involving Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Nashik, where several women employees have accused team leaders of sexual harassment, mental abuse, and attempts at religious coercion. Multiple FIRs have been registered across police stations, including a rape case, and at least six accused have been arrested so far, while others remain absconding.

Multiple Complaints and Arrests

According to police, complaints from several women employees—mostly aged between 18 and 25—allege sustained physical and psychological harassment at different workplaces. The victims claimed they were subjected to inappropriate comments about their appearance, offensive remarks targeting their religious beliefs, and coercive behavior.

Cases have been registered in areas including Deolali and Mumbai Naka police stations. The accused reportedly include team leaders and engineers. Among those arrested are individuals identified as Asif Ansari, Shafi Sheikh, Shah Rukh Qureshi, Raza Memon, Tausif Attar, and Ashwin Chainani. Police are also searching for another HR official in connection with the case.

Allegations of Coercion and Workplace Pressure

Complainants have alleged that certain employees created an environment within the company that promoted religious pressure. Some victims claimed they were targeted by exploiting their personal or marital issues. Reports suggest that such incidents may have been ongoing for the past two to three years.

One male employee also alleged that he was psychologically manipulated and pressured to change his beliefs and lifestyle, including being forced to participate in specific religious practices and alter his dietary habits.

Police Action and Investigation

Police have registered multiple cases, including charges related to outraging religious sentiments, rape, molestation, and combined offenses involving harassment and religious coercion. A 12-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by an ACP-level officer, has been formed to probe the matter using both technical and physical evidence.

Political Reactions and Company Response

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has termed the incident a case of “corporate jihad,” with leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar calling for stronger safety measures in IT companies.

Meanwhile, Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran described the allegations as “extremely serious.” He stated that a detailed internal investigation is underway under the leadership of TCS COO Aarthi Subramanian.

Authorities have emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, and further action will depend on the findings and evidence gathered.
