“TMC’s Era of Fear Is Ending, BJP’s Era of Trust and Service Is Coming”: PM Modi

Vishnupur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reached Vishnupur to campaign for the West Bengal Assembly elections. Addressing the Vijay Sankalp rally, he praised the cultural richness of the state, calling West Bengal a land of art and artists. He appreciated people who brought paintings and said that if their names were mentioned on the artworks, he would send them letters of appreciation. He also asked SPG personnel to collect the items, expressing gratitude for the public’s affection.
The Prime Minister said this was his first public rally after the Bengali New Year and also coincided with the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. He wished prosperity for all citizens and said it was a matter of fortune to hold the सभा in a city known for its temples. He noted that the size of rallies across Bengal was लगातार increasing, breaking previous records, and described the growing crowds as a reflection of public anger against the state government.
Targeting the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), Modi said that Bengal had made up its mind for change. Referring to the presence of women in large numbers, he emphasized that women’s empowerment and safety are core to the identity of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He alleged that the TMC had betrayed women once again, citing recent developments in Parliament.
The Prime Minister also accused the TMC of insulting President Droupadi Murmu, stating that while she is respected globally, the party had shown disrespect during her visit to Bengal—an incident he said women of the state would not forget. He further alleged that the TMC breaks laws to benefit infiltrators and is promoting religion-based reservation, which he claimed goes against the spirit of the Constitution.
Outlining promises, Modi said that if a BJP government comes to power in Bengal, free राशन for the poor would be ensured without interruption. He added that under the PM Awas Yojana, women would receive up to ₹1.5 lakh assistance to build permanent homes. He criticized the current government for halting the Ayushman scheme and promised that women would receive free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh once the BJP takes office.
He also spoke about the proposed “Matru Shakti Bharosa Card,” saying it would provide ₹36,000 annually to women. Additionally, pregnant women would receive ₹21,000 in assistance, along with ₹5,000 from the central government after childbirth. Financial aid of ₹50,000 for daughters’ education was also promised.
Concluding his speech, Modi said, “The era of fear under TMC is about to end, and the era of trust and service under BJP is about to begin.” He added that the outcome of May 4 was already reflected in the language and behavior of TMC leaders, referring to it as a “preview of the results.” He claimed that those who once intimidated the people of Bengal were now fearful of the जनता, calling them the “Bengal Tiger.” He warned TMC workers involved in wrongdoing to surrender before April 29, stating that after May 4, strict action would follow.
