Precious Metals Rally Amid Rising Global Tensions

New Delhi: Gold and silver prices witnessed a strong surge this week. Gold climbed by over ₹2,300 per 10 grams, while silver recorded an increase of nearly ₹8,000 per kilogram.

According to the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), the price of 24-carat gold rose to ₹1,55,066 per 10 grams, compared to ₹1,52,765 per 10 grams on the same day last week. This marks an increase of ₹2,301 per 10 grams over the past week.

Similarly, 22-carat gold prices increased to ₹1,42,040 per 10 grams from ₹1,39,933, while 18-carat gold climbed from ₹1,14,574 to ₹1,16,300 per 10 grams.

Silver prices also maintained upward momentum. The metal surged by ₹7,881 per kilogram within a week, reaching ₹2,50,314 per kg, compared to ₹2,42,433 per kg last week.

In the spot market, 24-carat gold touched its weekly high of ₹1,55,066 per 10 grams on February 20, while the lowest price was recorded at ₹1,51,195 per 10 grams on February 17. Silver hit its weekly high of ₹2,50,314 per kg on February 20 and a low of ₹2,32,955 per kg on February 17.

On the international front, precious metal prices also trended higher. Gold was priced at $5,080.90 per ounce, up from $5,046.30 per ounce a week earlier. Silver rose to $82.343 per ounce, compared to $77.96 per ounce last week.

The surge in gold and silver prices this week is largely attributed to rising tensions between the United States and Iran, which have driven investors toward safe-haven assets, pushing precious metal prices higher.
