COVID Cases in Karnataka: Bengaluru Records 32 Active Cases; Public Asked to Stay Alert

COVID Cases in Karnataka: Karnataka has reported 35 active Covid-19 cases so far in 2025, with 32 of them concentrated in Bengaluru. In light of this, the state government has issued an advisory urging citizens to stay alert and follow basic Covid-appropriate behaviour (CAB), even though officials insist that the overall situation remains under control.
The advisory, released on Friday, highlighted a slow but noticeable uptick in infections over the past three weeks. While no deaths linked to Covid have been reported this year, the government stressed that extra care is needed, especially for vulnerable groups.
“Although the numbers remain low, precaution is better than cure,” the advisory noted. It specifically urged pregnant women, young children, the elderly, and individuals with pre-existing health conditions or weakened immune systems to wear face masks in public spaces. Citizens have also been encouraged to maintain hand hygiene and use sanitizers frequently.
COVID Cases in Karnataka: Officials further advised anyone experiencing symptoms of Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) to get tested without delay. Early testing, they said, can help ensure timely care and contain any potential spread.
The health department underscored that while these steps are preventive, they play a critical role in protecting the broader community from another surge.
Meanwhile, a nine-month-old baby from Hoskote in Bengaluru Rural district has tested positive for Covid-19, marking one of the youngest confirmed cases this year. The child was first taken to a private hospital and later shifted to the government-run Vani Vilas Hospital in Bengaluru for specialised care. The infant is reported to be stable and under observation.
Confirming the case, Harsh Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Karnataka Health and Family Welfare Department, said the child had tested positive through a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on May 22.
COVID Cases in Karnataka: The latest case follows Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao’s announcement earlier this week that the state had 16 active Covid cases as of May 21. On the national level, India had recorded 257 active cases as of May 19, according to the Union Health Ministry.
As the state takes a proactive stance, officials reiterated the importance of public cooperation in preventing a larger outbreak.
