Kartik Aaryan applauds Murlikant Petkar as he’s conferred with Arjuna Award

Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan was spotted applauding former Para-athlete Murlikant Rajaram Petkar as he got conferred with the prestigious Arjuna Award for lifetime achievement on Friday, January 17 at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.Petkar was India’s first ever Paralympic gold-medalist, who scripted history with a world record-breaking performance in para-swimming during the 1972 edition of the games in Heidelberg, Germany.

His story even inspired Bollywood to make a movie showcasing his struggles in life and how he managed to conquer them to emerge as a successful para-athlete. His role was portrayed by none other than Kartik Aaryan in the movie titled ‘Chandu Champion’ directed by Kabir Khan. Hence, Aaryan also came to be a part of Petkar’s biggest day as his long-awaited wish of receiving the Arjuna award was finally fulfilled.

The Bollywood actor also wrote a special message for Petkar on his Instagram handle and mentioned how his move ‘Chandu Champion’ has now got the perfect ending with him finally receiving the Arjuna award.

“From living your incredible life on the big screen to witnessing you receive, Arjuna Lifetime Achievement Award, at Rashtrapati Bhawan today, it felt surreal. Every moment was like a dream. Now our film #ChanduChampion, seems to have found its perfect ending (it started with you fighting for The Arjuna award) but knowing you, an unstoppable champion, this can’t be the climax… Keep inspiring Sir,” wrote Aryan on his Instagram account.

“Feeling so proud to be present in this moment framed in history with you and the honourable president of India. Salute to you and congratulations to all the Arjuna awardees,” he added.
