Tragic Accident in Jharkhand: 4 Workers Killed After Being Buried Under Coal Slurry

A heartbreaking incident has been reported from Dhanbad district of Jharkhand, where four workers lost their lives after being buried under coal slurry. The accident occurred on Saturday evening at the Munidih Coal Washery operated by Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL). Fears remain that several other workers may still be trapped under the debris, as rescue operations continue.
The mishap took place during the loading of slurry (coal residue) into trucks at the coal washery project. Suddenly, a massive كمية of slurry collapsed, trapping several contractual workers underneath. The tragic incident created panic and grief across the area.
Following the accident, teams from the police and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), along with local villagers, rushed to the site. Rescue and relief efforts are underway, with JCB machines being used to clear the debris and locate any trapped workers.
According to initial information, the accident happened in the Munidih OP area while slurry loading operations were in progress. The sudden collapse of a large كمية of coal slurry led to the death of four workers, while concerns remain about others possibly being buried.
Notably, this is not the first such incident in the area. Last month, four people died after a gas leak at a closed captive power plant of BCCL in Munidih. It was alleged that the victims had entered the plant to steal iron, and while cutting a chlorine gas pipe, it burst, leading to their deaths.
The current rescue operation is ongoing, and authorities are working tirelessly to prevent further casualties.
