Gukesh becomes youngest world champion
Indian GrandmasterD. Gukesh created historyby becoming the youngest-ever World Chess Champion. He achieved this incredible feat by defeating reigning champion Ding Liren in the 14th and final game of the World Chess Championship held in Singapore on Thursday, December 12. At just 18 years old, Gukesh is now the second Indian to win the classical chess world championship title, following in the footsteps of Viswanathan Anand.
“It’s the best day of my life,” said Gukesh as he reflected on his historic win.
Gukesh claimed the championship with a final score of 7.5-6.5, sealing victory in the last classical game, which for most of the match seemed destined to end in a draw.
This achievement made Gukesh the 18th world champion in the history of classical chess and the youngest-ever undisputed champion. Despite Ding’s efforts to push the match into tiebreakers, Gukesh’s precise moves and a decisive winning strike in the final moments secured his place in chess history.WatchBigg Boss 18 claims spot among Google’s Most Searched Topics in 2024
