Abhinav Mukund Critiques LSG’s Inconsistency After Loss to DC in IPL 2026

After Wednesday’s IPL 2026 clash at Ekana Stadium, where Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets, former Indian cricketer Abhinav Mukund shared his observations about LSG’s inconsistent performance.

Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Mukund said, “I’m not very certain about LSG. They are a young side in the IPL. GT (Gujarat Titans) started similarly in 2022 and gradually found their identity. LSG lost their first game of the season, and with this team, you often feel there is no real identity.”

He acknowledged that star players like Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram are performing well, but highlighted a broader lack of depth and consistency in the squad. Mukund noted, “Mark Wood sometimes takes five wickets, but it doesn’t happen consistently, which remains the team’s biggest problem.”

Discussing LSG’s match strategy against DC, Mukund added, “I didn’t find the team balanced. They had seven batsmen and only four bowlers. They trusted Digvijesh Rathi over Ravi Bishnoi, but Rathi wasn’t even part of the first game. It’s hard to understand.”

LSG was all out for 141 in 18.4 overs, while DC chased down the target in 17.1 overs, losing just four wickets. LSG will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad on 5 April at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Since joining the IPL in 2022, LSG has played 58 matches, winning 30 and losing 28, reaching the playoffs twice in four seasons. Last season, they finished seventh. Mukund’s critique highlights the ongoing challenge LSG faces in finding consistent performers beyond their star players to build a more stable team identity.
